Information Technology (IT) is one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand fields in the world. With technology becoming increasingly important in all aspects of our lives, there has never been a better time to pursue a career in IT.

There are many different ways to get started in an IT career. You can take classes in high school, earn a degree in computer science or a related field, or get certified in a specific IT skill. You can also gain experience by working on personal projects or volunteering your time to help others with their technology needs.

A career in IT can be both challenging and rewarding. You will have the opportunity to use your skills to solve complex problems and make a real difference in the world. You will also be able to work with a variety of people and learn new things every day.

If you are interested in learning more about IT careers, there are many resources available to you. You can talk to your guidance counselor, research different IT fields online, or attend a career fair. You can also shadow an IT professional to learn more about what they do on a daily basis.

With hard work and dedication, you can have a successful and rewarding career in IT.

Kickoff Event w/ Leadership & Planning for your Future!

We’re thrilled to welcome the 2024 fall cohort from Hughes STEM High School to another season of ShareIT! In partnership with the Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Community Impact, CPS, UC DTS, and our dedicated mentors, we are guiding 18 students as they embark on a 12-week journey into the world of IT.

Our first session, led by Mark Johnson, Chief Growth Officer at Costrategix, centered on goal-setting and future planning. Mark shared his personal journey in IT, inspiring students to consider what success means to them and the steps they need to take to achieve it. Through interactive activities focused on the theme “investing your time in your future,” students explored the importance of time and goal setting. Mark guided them through a timeline activity that mapped their lives from birth to 100 years old.

This activity helped students realize that time is finite; without goals, commitment, and planning, the present can easily slip away. Students were challenged to memorize the inspiring quote “Until One is Committed,” with a $20 prize offered to anyone who could recite it from memory. Understanding that once you commit to something, you can achieve it was the theme for this session. As part of his “Life Transformation Coaching” program, Mark encouraged them to envision their futures and draft a life vision, a final step in owning their journey

The session wrapped up with a lively discussion and a pizza dinner, setting an enthusiastic tone for the weeks to come.

A big thanks to Mark and our mentors for kicking off the program in such an impactful way! Thank you, Jane, Anisa, Ganda, and Jermaine.

We also want to thank Market Pointe for sponsoring the meal vouchers for our students.
