The African American/Black Male Staff (AABMS) organization is committed to providing a support network and professional development opportunities for AA/Black male staff at the University of Cincinnati.

Through programs, meetings, literature readings, educational workshops and networking the AABMS aspires to become a standing body that implements strategies to create opportunities for the recruitment and retention of AABMS to serve the University and extended community.

The founding principles for the AABMS are to enhance the professional men of AABMS and to increase the consciousness and togetherness of AABMS across campus, while also upholding a high standard for integrity and a dedicated focus on the recruitment, retention, mentorship, and commitment to the University of Cincinnati AABM students.

President

The President is the primary coordinator of the AABMS and is responsible for maintaining the focus and overall direction of the AABMS Organization. The President presides over Executive Board and membership meetings

Vice President

The Vice President is to function in substitute of the President. The Vice President presides over business and meetings in the president's absence. The Vice President, in partnership with the President, is also responsible guiding the plans and actions of the committees. The Vice President assists the President with developing and guiding the organization and listens to ideas and plans and advice as necessary. The Vice President accepts special assignments presented by the President.

Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for taking meeting minutes for all Executive Board and membership meetings and distributing the minutes to the members. In the case of absence, the Secretary is responsible for assigning an alternate Executive Board member to record and document events discussed. The Secretary shall serve as the primary recorder of all events and functions to maintain historical context and continuity.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for managing the organizations financial resources including all accounts. The Treasurer will work with the organizations Executive Board in seeking funding sources, developing proposals, and handling all financial business of the organization including maintaining accurate and up to date financial records. The Treasurer is produce regular reporting of financial records.

By-laws

The By-laws chair oversees the by-law committee and is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to and abide by established by-laws. The by-laws chair is also responsible for overseeing the by-laws amendment process and regular by-laws committee meetings.

Communications

The communications chair oversees the communications committee and is responsible for assuring that all events, university communications, and other updates regarding AABMS are shared to the group members through various forms of communication, including, but not limited to: social media, email, flyers, and any other communication channels available to the group.

Programming

The programming chair oversees the programming committee and is responsible for organizing events for the University community which address the issues, needs, and interests of AABMS here at the University of Cincinnati.

Professional Development/Networking (PDN)

The Professional Development/Networking chair oversees the PDN committee is responsible for developing programs that promote the advancement of professional skills for UC’s black male staff, and creating a network for AABMS across the University of Cincinnati.

Technology Chair

This Technology Chair oversees the technology committee and is responsible for managing and developing digital solutions that address the needs and interests of AABMS. This includes, but is not limited to: updates to the list serve, website development, content management, and social media releases in collaboration with the Communications Committee.

Membership

The membership chair oversees the membership committee and is responsible for plan the annual membership campaign, creating and implementing a membership plan, promoting membership throughout the year, and providing membership report.
